Newsom hasn't endorsed any recommendations, as the task force submits its' final report on June 29. Responding to Newsom's comments, she posted on Twitter: 'CA Gov. 'Dealing with that legacy is about much more than cash payments. Newsom also pledged to continue to 'advance systemic changes that ensure an inclusive and equitable future for all Californians. 'This has been an important process, and we should continue to work as a nation to reconcile our original sin of slavery and understand how that history has shaped our country.' Newsom said he felt there were better ways of addressing systemic inequality than cash handouts, after the group said the scheme would cost the state around $800billion – more than their annual budget of $300billion
